2011
This year my focus was to qualify for the womens olympic marathon trials. After missing 2008 trying to have child #2 I was ready. The best decision was having Matt Ebersole coach me this year. His guidance was a tremendous help and having a coach is a tremendous bonus to your training. After DNF at chicago I learned from that experience. The marathon truely is about getting everything perfect for one day. It has some luck with it but what a challenge. Chicago was not my day so I dropped out. I came back a few weeks later but this time with a hamstring injury. With the help of Terry Fletcher I made it through the marathon with a near PR. 2:47:47. Although I would be lying to say I was not disappointed but after my first real marathon training attempt in 8 years I nearly PR'ed at 41. That I was happy. I still feel there are things I can do to improve and still feel I have a marathon PR in me. I am resting now but plan to gear back up for an exciting 2012. More miles to run and more fun times with my training partners. For now gotta heal the hamstring so back to some swimming and easy running. I hope I can keep this blog thing I love reading others but it seems weird! A great year running for BROOKS! 2010 I spent 4 months injured so a year I can run without injury is definitley a blessing! Love this photo my hubby, my fan, supporter and best friend is cheering me on! thanks Terry Fletcher for the photo!
